First Wikicamp Nepal 2018 (WCN) Is Taking Place at Lahan, Siraha
First Wikicamp Nepal 2018 (WCN) is taking place at Lahan, Siraha. Maithili Wikimedians User Group and Wikimedians of Nepali User Group are going to organize Wikicamp Nepal 2018 (WCN), a three day event for experienced and new Wikipedians of Nepal. The entire event will take place at a city of Siraha district in Lahan on 2018 November 22, 23 and 24 at Hotel Simrik. The city is connected with Mahendra Highway. The main objective of the event is to increase the Wikimedia offline activities in Nepal, develop skill of the new Wikipedians and bring together experienced and newbies Wikipedians. This brings together Wikipedians from Nepali, Maithili, Doteli, Newari (Nepal Bhasha), Bhojpuri, Sanskrit and Santali Community as well as 2 emerging Incubator community- Awadhi and Marwari. The organizers have managed scholorships to support 38 individuals that cover round trip travel, shared accommodation and event registration fee for the participation. The event is funded by Wikimedia Foundation. Biplab Anand, one member of organizing team stated that this is first event of its kind being held in Nepal and is intended to become an annual national flagship event for Wikipedia/Wikimedia in the country.
